Inicia su formaci\u00f3n art\u00edstica en el a\u00f1o 1960 como estudiante en los cursos vespertinos de dibujo y croquis dirigidos por Gracia Barros en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Chile. Entre los a\u00f1os 1961 y 1963 estudia dise\u00f1o y cer\u00e1mica en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas de la misma universidad. En 1964 ingresa formalmente a la Escuela de Bellas Artes, lugar donde estudia con Ricardo Meza, con quien se especializ\u00f3 en escultura y cer\u00e1mica. Se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como ayudante y posteriormente profesor de la c\u00e1tedra de escultura, en la misma instituci\u00f3n. En 1971 fue nombrado director de la Casa de la Cultura del Mineral del Teniente. En 1974 y tras el Golpe C\u00edvico Militar se traslada a M\u00e9xico como asilado pol\u00edtico. 1979 recibi\u00f3 el Primer Premio de Adquisici\u00f3n en la Primera Trienal de Escultura del Sal\u00f3n Nacional de Artes Pl\u00e1sticas de M\u00e9xico. Su obra ha sido exhibida en el Museo de Arte Contempor\u00e1neo, Santiago; Museo de Arte Moderno, Ciudad de M\u00e9xico; Museo Carillo Gil, Ciudad de M\u00e9xico; Convento de Tepoztl\u00e1n, Morelos; Palacio de Bellas Arte, Ciudad de M\u00e9xico y Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Santiago.
